Department Information

As part of the UITS Support Center, Technology Center Consulting (TCC) offers employees the opportunity to gain marketable customer service and technical skills. Our operational structure requires staff who are motivated by growth and opportunity. Many former consultants have used their experience to obtain positions with reputable firms and organizations worldwide.

Job Summary

  • Provides on-site technical assistance in the UITS Consulting Services Mission areas with:
    • Desktop and mobile computing device platforms (including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and others)
    • Central systems (email, learning management systems, storage platforms, etc.)
  • Provides direct assistance to clients of the Student Technology Centers (STCs) for technical assistance relating to software and hardware issues, printer problems, supplies, and the overall lab environment.
  • Provides direct assistance to campus housing residents in acquiring and maintaining their network connection to the university network.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • Customer service experience
Preferred
  • 1 year of customer service experience
SKILLS

Required
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Professional attitude and demeanor
  • Good technical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computing skills across the Windows and Mac platforms, including operating systems and applications
Working Conditions / Demands

The position involves sedentary work, as well as periods of time moving around campus. Ability to move up to 45 pounds.

Additional Information

Recruiting efforts are focused on Fall 2024, earlier start dates may be possible.

Multiple positions are available, to include work-study opportunities.

Work Location

IU Bloomington Campus

Work Hours

$12.15 per hour.

After successful completion of a 6-week probationary period and an evaluation of training, consultants can be paid $13.00 per hour.

Work Hours

Consultants are required to work a minimum of 12 hours per week. Shifts are assigned each semester based on consultant availability. For STC hours and staffing, see Staffing in the IUB and IUPUI STCs.
