Job description

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Interactive Design faculty position in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design (TCID) that begins August 2024.
Faculty at KSU teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. A commitment to excellence in teaching, an active and innovative research/creative activity agenda, and service to the institution are expected of all tenure track faculty members in KSU's Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
A typical workload is 60/30/10 as follows:
Teaching (60% or 3/3 load) Interactive Design courses.
Research (30%) in an active research agenda.
Service (10%) to Dept/College/University or professional community.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree (PhD, MFA, other), or the foreign equivalent, in interactive design, human-computer interaction, interaction design, user experience design, user interface design, multimedia design, product design, digital visual communication, or related field. Degree must be earned by the start date.
A demonstrated record of effective teaching at the university level and an active research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated effectiveness (e.g., syllabi, assignments, student evaluations or summaries, peer or self-reviews of teaching) in teaching user research and interaction design methods. Related Interactive Design classes include Interaction Design I, Interaction Design II, Ethnography for Designers.
An active research agenda in a field related to interaction or user experience design.
Experience with externally funded research projects.
Experience supervising students in research experiences.
