MHA is seeking a full time Development and Marketing Director to join our team! 

The Mental Health Association is committed to compassionate, dignified and empowering treatment as we guide our consumers along their individual paths to Wellness and Recovery.

MHA provides services to one of the largest areas in the State, Northern New Jersey. Since our founding in 1950, MHA’s workforce has expanded to 235 staff members, providing services in 5 counties. MHA is ever expanding its services, building upon the legacy that began in 1950. We are proud of our accomplished past and we look forward to even greater success in our future as we continue in our mission to serve our community throughout 5 counties.

MHA is seeking a Development and Marketing Director who is committed to building powerful partnerships throughout our communities that will establish the support MHA needs to continue in its mission.

The ideal candidate would be committed to a workplace which encourages empathy, self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, effective communication and conflict management. This candidate would also bring a positive, open-minded attitude to meetings and discussions while also being thoughtful in considering different points of view and is able to voice a difference in opinion with diplomacy. This position requires being present on-site and in person. The essential job functions of this position include but are not limited to: Revenue Generation, Communication and Marketing, Event Supervision, Management and Leadership, Responsibility to our Board, Strategic Planning and Implementation and to perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Director. The weight of these job functions varies. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college
• Certification/Licensure in communications, marketing and/or fundraising fields preferred.
• Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience and must include working in a leadership role. 

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of the mental and behavioral health fields.
• Advanced knowledge in nonprofit management, fundraising, marketing and communication strategies, strategic planning and implementation.
• Must have proven experience with and be proficient in utilizing Project Management and Fundraising tools and processes.
• Proficiency with presentation, basic graphic design, donor databases, and prospect tools.
• Adept with pitch creation, grant writing and proposal development.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and best practices.
• Personal track record of meeting and exceeding goals.

Responsibilities:  

As a member of the Senior Team, the Development and Marketing Director is responsible for successfully leading the effort to build awareness, public understanding, and support for the mission of the Mental Health Association. This includes developing and leading our marketing, communications and fundraising strategies, brand management, and resource development to support strategic objectives and mission sustainability. Position requires being present on-site and in-person.

Supervises: Development Associate, TBD.
