Duties
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Transports evidence property to court and testifies in applicable situations pertaining to condition of evidence
- Processes and collaborates with investigators on releases of evidence property
- Collaborates with law enforcement with evidence packing protocols
- Provides customer service to internal and external customers via email, phone or in person
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned
SPECIALIZED ASSIGNMENTS - Property Evidence Assignment
- Develops and maintains operational routines and procedures for evidence property including organizing, storing, and arranging for daily use
- Maintains various digital logs and systems for the verification, storage and tracking of evidence property for quality control measures
- Coordinates and obtains approval for the destruction and disposal of evidence property
- Compiles and retains daily, monthly, and annual reports related to evidence property that is in possession of the WCSO
- Prepares labels and document logs for all tracking purposes
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to – Chief of Staff
- Direct Reports – No
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Position involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, heavy lifting, and operating equipment
- Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
- Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
- Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, and high noise levels
- Exposure to graphic material (photos, video, and audio)
- Regular travel between work sites as required
IRREGULAR HOURS
- Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is required
- The scheduled shift for this position in the Property Evidence assignment is Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years of assignment-related experience
- Knowledge of record management systems and Microsoft Suite
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required six (6) months of employment: TCIC (Texas Crime Information Center) Certification
- Required within thirty (30) days of employment: Valid Texas driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Vocational or technical degree in related field
- Prior experience working in a criminal or law enforcement background with emphasis on care, custody, and control of evidence
