The Department of Otolaryngology is currently seeking a full time Research Associate 1 to work in Miami, FL. An immediate job opening exists for a person with bachelor’s degree or above in science or medicine at Dr. Liu’s laboratory related to the genetics of deafness, and the development of therapeutic strategies to treat hearing loss. These projects will benefit from knowledge/additional training in neuroscience and mouse work amongst other techniques. The successful candidates should have a few years of research training or work experience in animal work and should have a background in experience with utilizing animal models, experience in these technologies is desirable although not required. Previous work-related experience includes molecular biology and a background in experiences with animal sensory evaluation either in physiology and histology.

6. Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.
7. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and helps with lab management.
8. Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
9. Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.
10. Works collaboratively as an equal partner of the team, respecting diversity of opinions and personnel.
11. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field , Master’s Degree in biomedical science related field preferred

Experience:

No prior experience required. However, prior laboratory experience, including handling of rodents is highly preferred.

1. Maintaining cell culture, transfection, immunoblotting under lab senior members
2. Performing expression analysis and auditory physiological evaluation of identified genes in inner ears in animal models.
