Job description

The Simulation Lab Technician is responsible for assisting in stocking and maintaining supplies and equipment, setting up and taking down simulation training scenarios, and operating and maintaining electronic simulators, task trainers, audiovisual, and computerized equipment. Preparing and monitoring any cadaver lab courses, as well as the ensuring the proper removal of waste and decontamination of simulation rooms post course. The Simulation Lab Technician is also responsible for collaborating with faculty on the development of new moulage models for courses that require hands on training and providing on board training to new employees. Exemplifies the AHS mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with AHS policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  1. Supports training exercises using both high and low fidelity health care simulators.
  2. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all training equipment. 
  3. Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots all training equipment.
  4. Coordinates laboratory housekeeping.
  5. Supports/assists in role playing applications, props placement, and moulage set-up before and after simulations and recording of information and debriefing of simulation sessions.
  6. Assists in the design and building of simulation models, as needed.
  7. Provides recommendations for operational efficiency, new equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation.
  8. Responsible for organizing all storage spaces to meet the needs of lab activities.
  9. Maintains proficiency in and with all simulation technology and its respective use.
  10. Operate audiovisual systems and possess the ability to train others in the use of audiovisual systems.

Attends seminars, conferences, in-service trainings, and staff meetings, as required.

Required: 
High School diploma or equivalent required. 
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline preferred. 
Two or more years of patient care experience as a paramedic, EMT, simulation technician or operating room technician required.
Technical / mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate MAC, PC and Windows platform computer systems.
Background in medical technology, emergency medical procedures, or critical care preferred.
