Description:

University Relations and Marketing is seeking a Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Manager. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of University Relations & Marketing with a dotted line to the Executive Director for Government Relations, the Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Manager develops communications strategies and tactics to protect and enhance Oregon State University's reputation, including promoting the university's contributions to the state and tracking and responding to emerging issues. Core responsibilities include managing a proactive and responsive cadence of communications that enable OSU to communicate directly to Oregon residents and their elected representatives about the ways in which the institution is delivering value across every county and the tribal nations of the state.

Oregon State's value to the state and local communities in solutions-oriented research, equitable access to high-quality higher education, and evidence-based community outreach and educational programming includes the contributions of 11 academic colleges; 13 research and experiment stations; Extension Service operations in all of Oregon's 36 counties; and 17 federally and state funded transdisciplinary research centers. The Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Manager will design and distribute compelling storytelling that highlights OSU's state, national and international impact.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Master's degree in field related to work assigned. Experience developing and engaging in strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24

This position is eligible for a Hybrid working arrangement, conditions to be approved by the supervisor.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with skills, education and experience.
