UnityPoint Health - Waterloo
Responsible for the overall risk management, and accreditation/regulatory program at Allen and Marshalltown Hospitals. This includes activities related to the management of the variance reporting system, education, and investigation of risk management concerns and developing corrective actions to help mitigate future risk events. This position is also responsible for accreditation preparedness and submission of data to meet regulatory requirements

Patient Safety/Risk Mitigation
- Collaborates with the Patient Safety Program Manager in creating a Culture of Safety and the implementation of a Just Culture
- Administers and coordinates the variance report monitoring system.
- Identifies high risk issues and communicates as necessary. Provide consultation for risk reduction techniques.
- Participation in the organization daily safety huddles and the weekly significant events huddle.
Analysis
- Administration, coordination and reporting of all investigations, to include root cause analysis, and follow up including payments as necessary. This will include coordination with team members, management, UPH law department and others as necessary
Accreditation and Regulatory Preparedness
- Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support compliance with DNV standards, CMS CoPs, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Coordinates and leads Accreditation and Survey preparedness meetings, sub-committees, and consulting activities.
- Leads hospital compliance with all assigned regulatory/accreditation requirements.
- Develops standards of accountability and reporting.
- Collaborates with the Regulatory Program Manager to ensure Survey Readiness ensuring the Emergency Preparedness policies are reviewed, revised within the appropriate regulatory and hospital policy expectations.
- Coordinates and leads the activities of the DNV and State related surveys.
- Plans, coordinates and leads mock surveys and the follow-up action plans.
- Ensures the DNV applications are completed as required and that the necessary documentation for the Environment of Care and Life Safety standards is up-to-date and readily available at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing education program.
- Four years of experience in general medical/surgical nursing with a broad knowledge of disease processes.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa
- Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel.
