Job Description



The Applications Engineering Intern is responsible for the development and qualification of DC-DC power converter products with Renesas’s advanced control architectures. Supports the Mobile end markets with emphasis on battery charger products at RTP, North Carolina design center. Responsible for the entire product development cycle of power management IC’s, such as buck converters, boost converters and buck boost converters, PMICs. Primary responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities:


•product definition
•technical documentation (e.g. datasheet, application notes, and design guidelines)
•training of field applications engineers as well as customer engineers
•product validation and characterization
•customer support, including on-site support
•competitive analysis
•system level testing and characterization

Qualifications



The candidate should have industry/research experience in power management IC application with expertise in the following areas:

•DC/DC converter topologies optimized for mobile applications, buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pump converters, LDO’s, linear and switching Li-ion battery chargers, multi-phase regulators.
•Knowledge of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, phase margin, etc.
•Schematic capture, PCB design tools such as Orcad, Allegro
•Analog circuit modeling/simulation tools such as Simplis, PSpice, etc.
•Product characterization equipment such as oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic load, spectrum analyzer network analyzer.
•Familiar with power management

Education:

MSEE student or PhD student
