Job description

CNC PROGRAMMER OPENING IN SANTA ANA, CA.

Description:

Day shift (6am-2:30pm) CNC Lead Programmer needed for machine shop in Santa Ana, CA. Pay will be between $38-$45 an hour and be based on experience. Must have experience programming 3- and 5-axis CNC Mills machines.

-Will work independently to program and set up CNC mill, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications.

-Reads and interprets technical blueprints and design models and inputs the product design into the computer modeling software in a manufacturing environment.

-Design fixture for CNC machine when needed.

-During the manufacturing process, will perform quality checks with the machine operator to ensure the program is producing parts according to specifications, making manual adjustments if necessary.

-Will also work with the engineers to look for product modifications that might reduce the amount of material or fabrication time.

-Although no formal education is required, applicants should be familiar with the computer-aided design programs Esprit.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Programs and sets up CNC milling, lathe, or other production machinery according to blueprint specifications.

• Reads and interprets technical blueprints and design models then inputs product design into computer modeling software (SolidWorks and CAD/CAM).

• Applies knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances.

• Adjusts machine settings to the desired product specifications and troubleshoots issues when appropriate.

• Utilizes G or M code and CAM software (Esprit).

• Tests accuracy of settings and programs.

• Maintains a safe and orderly work area.

• Analyze drawings to determine dimensions and to choose cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates.

• Modify existing programs for different machines.

• Maintain tooling database.

• Make manual program adjustments as necessary.

• Provides revision control of drawings or programs to maintain the fabrication of quality products to meet customer specifications.

• Communicates and collaborates with production as a specialist in area of expertise – design and programming.

• May assume a team lead role for the machining department when necessary.
