The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external strategic account customers. This position requires a clear understanding of value creation opportunities, exceptional communication skills, development & analysis of performance metrics, strategy development to increase both sales and profitability, and facilitation of decision-making at multiple levels of customer organizations and within Beacon. Developing, deploying, and articulating Beacon’s differential value proposition with this segment of customers is a key strategic imperative. This is an influence-based leadership role where the Strategic Account Manager will set the pace for other sales leaders and define sales excellence within Beacon.

What you will do:
- Account & Strategic Opportunity Planning – including value analysis, leverage financial/business acumen to support clear internal and external decision-making.
- Develop leading edge solutions that create strategic control points with strategic accounts.
- Responsible for the overall growth and performance of assigned strategic accounts.
- Understand organizational priorities of Strategic Accounts and how to marry Beacon’s value proposition to those priorities.
- Joint Solution Development – Ability to negotiate dynamics of customer needs/wants to effectively land on joint objectives for the strategic partnership (Beacon & Strategic Customer) to achieve together.
- Multi-functional direct and influence-based leadership: Ability to lead a team in a direct or indirect way across geographies and functions to execute growth objectives with and for the customer.
- Maintain process discipline and accountability for business outcomes, ultimate responsibility for the customer relationship.
- Grow year over year revenue of assigned customers by adding additional products and/or product lines, ensuring customer satisfaction, and increasing Beacon profitability.
- Develop new prospects and interactions with existing customers to increase sales of Beacon’s products and/or services.
- Compare benchmarking data with other National Account Managers to establish best practices for your assigned portfolio.
- Complete authority to establish and negotiate sales terms while working with divisional teams.
- Act as an influential leader to other National Account managers by sharing successful processes and occasionally participating in account planning exercises of colleagues.
What you will bring:
- Relevant bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 10 years’ account management experience in a related field.
- Proficient with a variety of exterior building products field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of business acumen, financials, products, and markets.
- Ability to manage large/dynamic accounts.
- Preferred experience utilizing business intelligence systems to manage portfolio (Salesforce and Tableau).
- Proficient skill with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- A valid driver's license.
- Willing to travel up to 75%.
