Job Description:
The Junior Accountant will provide support to the financial department by helping maintain daily accounting tasks, which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department. You will be part of a team of professionals, preparing financial statements and reporting, working to maintain order and transparency in the company's finances.
This job description may not encompass the entire scope of this role, as other duties may be assigned by management.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Entering invoices into Marks System accurately and promptly
- Attaching supporting documents to invoices for proper documentation.
- Processing web approved invoices.
- Processing and cutting checks for approved invoices.
- Handling New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax (NMGRT) calculations and payments.
- Processing ACH payments for vendors.
- Processes 1099's for vendors at the beginning of the year.
- Preparing loan applications for construction loans.
- Follow up with banks and title companies to ensure timely processing of loan applications.
- Processing loan documents accurately and efficiently.
- Enter loan details into the accounting system and perform necessary entries for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Managing cash receipts related to home sales, including recording proceeds from the sale of homes, earnest and selection deposit refunds, rebates, and construction loan draws.
- Conducting bank reconciliation regularly to ensure accuracy between bank records and the company's financial records.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures, including, but not limited to, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and saving the proper documentation to the end-of-month folder.

- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of accounting software programs.
- Strong business acumen and judgment, innate problem-solving skills, and an intense willingness to learn new business processes and technologies.
- Flexible and adaptable in various situations and when interacting with many different personalities.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, including delegation of tasks, when appropriate.
- Knowledge and understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations are preferred.
- Adherence to ethical standards and integrity in handling financial information and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a relevant field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
