We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer - (Windows or Linux) to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).
In the role of Systems Engineer you will provide analysis, design, development, and integration of hardware, software, human-machine interfaces, and all system level requirements and functional objectives to provide an integrated Enterprise IT solution while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety, and cost. You will develop integrated system test requirements, strategies, devices, and systems. As part of your duties you will install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems. Your duties will require you to perform system backups and recovery and maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. You will apply your expertise across key tasks and high impact assignments while planning and leading major assignments/projects. You will evaluate performance results and recommend major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. You may function as an expert across multiple project assignments and may supervise others.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of related IT engineering experience required.
- Minimum 10 years of cumulative experience with systems administration in Linux environments (RHCE equivalence) or Windows Server environments (MS Security Engineer/Solution Architect equivalence).
- Minimum 7 years of cumulative experience with customer interactions, including presenting, answering questions, proactively resolving issues.
- Minimum 7 years of cumulative experience with VMWare (implementing, managing, configuring).
- Minimum 7 years of cumulative experience with securing systems by following STIGs, best practices, and government/compliance requirements (such as NIST 800-53, NIST 800-27, NIST 800-137, FISMA, FEDRAMP), and negotiating/working-with IA personnel to arrive at sensible and effective solutions.
- Minimum 5 years of cumulative experience with enhance data protection and compliance (such as OpenSSL, Keystores, Azure Key Vault, Cyphers).
- Minimum 3 years of cumulative experience with log management, network firewalls, and testing. (Being able to track down the root cause of a service/application failure through the use of logs and CLI-based tools (Log-based Analysis)).
- Minimum 3 years of cumulative experience with STIG hardening and participating in audit reviews relating to it.
- Minimum 2 years of cumulative experience creating and analyzing PowerShell, Ansible, Bash, JAVA based, YAML and/or Python scripts – for automation purposes.
- Minimum 2 years of cumulative experience with Agile/Kanban, Git/GitHub.
- Minimum 2 years of cumulative experience integrating, securing, and understanding the following Microsoft platform services (both in Windows OS and in Azure Cloud): Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Windows AD-integrated PKI, Single Sign On (SSO) implementation.

- Required Certifications:
- Security+ CE Certification (or other IAT Level II or III Certification)
- Azure certification required within 6 months of hire.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma required.
- A Bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for 5 years of experience.
- A Masters degree in a related field may substitute for 8 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ cumulative experience with ServiceNow, DevOps, Azure Boards, Azure Pipelines and Azure Repos a major plus (otherwise you will be expected to learn these things soon and fast).
- 2 years’ cumulative experience with researching, analyzing, documenting and presenting Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) for key product solutions.
- 2 years’ recent (within the past 3 years) cumulative experience with Azure Cloud Computing.
- Relevant Technical and/or Security Certifications (e.g., Network +, Security+, Microsoft, AWS, VMware, CISSP, CCNA, CCDA, CCNA-Security, etc.)
- One (1) of the following certifications: Azure DevOps Engineering Expert, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate
- Some experience with any or all of these products or technologies: MS SQL, Red Hat Satellite, Nagios, McAfee ePO, Tanium, IPSEC, ForeScout, CyberArk, Layer7 PAM, SailPoint, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Splunk, AMQP (RabbitMQ), Nessus suit, Swimlane, Qualys, SCCM, BigFix, MDM solutions, JIRA
