Job description

Pueo has an opportunity for an experienced TS/SCI cleared Expert Linux Engineer IA Security Assessor to join our team in Reston, VA. The Expert Linux Engineer IA Security Assessor is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Linux virtual machines within the Intelligence Community (IC).

** This is an on-site role**

Responsibilities:

• The candidate shall design, test, and implement python code in a Lab environment,
• The candidate shall participate in the planning of infrastructure and application development efforts,
• The candidate shall take ownership of issues, collaborating with other teams and leads to resolve issues in a timely manner,
• The candidate may perform routine maintenance of code,
• The candidate shall manage full system lifecycle including configuration and code deployment in test environment,
• The candidate shall document code configurations, processes, and procedures, as well as maintain and update existing documentation as needed,
• The candidate shall mentor other team members in Python best practices, providing guidance and support when necessary.

Required Qualifications

• The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience,
• The candidate must have 12+ years of experience as a Linux Engineer or similar role in a large and complex enterprise environment,
• The candidate must have a current DoD 8570 Requirement: IAT III Certification or the ability to acquire one within a 6-month grace period,
• The candidate must have scripting skills in Bash or Python,
• The candidate must have demonstrated experience coding and developing in Python,
• The candidate must have knowledge of Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, or Debian,
• The candidate must have an understanding and some experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus), management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef), and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP),
• The candidate must have a solid understanding of networking, storage, and virtualization technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ideal candidate is an expert in Python and integrating applications via RESTFul API,
• Ideal candidate has certifications relevant to Linux or cloud technologies, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Python Coding Certification,
• Ideal candidate has a demonstrated history of leading projects and ability to work with cross-functional teams,
• Ideal candidate has experience with automating OS provisioning with Ansible and VMWare,
• Ideal candidate has excellent communication and documentation skills, able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization,
• Ideal candidate has a proactive approach to system issues and the foresight to prevent them before they occur. Ideal candidate has familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
