Job description
The Aspiring Department Leader (ADL) Program is a developmental program to identify high potential team members and prepare them for a future Department Leader position.
Candidates selected are responsible for supporting the Department Leader in times of need or stepping in, on occasion, to perform the Department Leader responsibilities as needed. Candidates in this program are responsible for supporting company goals, including but not limited to safety, quality, production, sustainability, and employee relations performance objectives and communicating relevant information to the Department Leader or Supervisor. This work should be completed while maintaining traditional Production Team Member responsibilities and adhering to and complying with company policy.
- Assist and support area leadership in all aspects of the job.
- Respond to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for purpose of providing information and direction.
- Assist with training and coaching new employees.
- Adhering to company goals such as: safety, quality, productivity, and sustainability.
- Ensuring all employees are following company dress code, proper PPE is being utilized, and equipment/employees are working in a safe manner.
- Check work area, equipment, and tooling assigned for the area throughout the day to ensure it is well maintained, clean, orderly and in good working condition.
- Assist area leadership with quality control audits and processes.
- Assist area leadership in ensuring all team members in assigned area(s) follow established work standards and/or work instructions.
- Communicate regularly with the area leaders to ensure all team members are meeting daily production goals.
- Foster close working relationships with area team members, Department Leader(s), Supervisor(s) and Plant Manager(s).
- Assist area leadership with ensuring all team members are clocking and transferring their hours properly.
- Provide ongoing feedback to area leadership on developmental opportunities and prepare for mentoring and performance discussions.
- At least 6 months experience in True’s manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes in assigned area.
- Knowledge of company policies and production floor procedures.
- Strives for continuous improvement and has a team-based mindset.
- Adequate written and above average verbal communication skills.
- Ability to be assertive and diplomatic when interacting with employees at all levels.
- Ability to lead people, obtain commitment from team members, and achieve results through others.
- Ability to pay attention to detail, think logically by gathering all the facts, thoroughly check into situations, and rationally resolve problems.
- Positive attitude, team player, and supports the direction and policies of the Company.
- Proven history of good work performance, reliability, and attendance.
- Maintains confidentiality where necessary.
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration-based products, preferred.
- Basic computer skills including JDE, Microsoft Word, EXCEL, and Outlook, preferred.
- Basic awareness of OSHA Safety requirements, preferred.
