We are seeking a
Operational Excellent (OPEX - Continuous Improvement) Manager for our Corporate Headquarters based in
Auburn Hills, MI. NOTE: This position requires extensive travel and can be based out of one our plants located in Ohio, Indiana or North Carolina.
Position Summary: The primary responsibility will be to facilitate problem solving and/or improvement meetings to generate cost saving ideas and to track and document all Continuous Improvement (CI) projects in the Continuous Improvement Reporting and Accounting (CIRA) database, and to update and maintain Cost Trackers associated with these projects. This position reports to the Director of Continuous Improvement managing, mentoring, coaching and teaching plant continuous improvement managers, green and black belts as assigned.
Essential Job Functions: - Facilitate the development and implementation of improvement ideas and lead projects as necessary.
- Coordinate training of other individuals within the plant to develop and utilize basic improvement strategies such as, lean, Kaizen, 5-S, etc., to help accomplish these goals.
- Develop and train others in basic analysis skills (i.e. DOE, fishbone analysis, etc.)
- Lead and organize Kaizen events.
- Approve and maintain up to date continuous improvement projects portfolio in the CIRA database, including cost tracker detail. Drive attainment of monthly cost reduction metrics.
- Administer all activities of CIRA.
- Assist in developing annual budgets and standard costs, including costs for new products and launches in relation to CI savings goals.
- Support and assist in corporate initiatives to improve the CI processes. Drive attainment of quarterly and annual CI metrics.
- Maintain appropriate CI BOS/DOO compilation and financial slide for all Cost Savings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Continuous Improvement.
- Responsible for ensuring that business goals and customer requirements are met.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree is required with a preference in engineering or business.
- Advanced knowledge of basic improvement and auditing techniques, such as Lean, Kaizen, 5-S, TS/IATF 16949.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Web based software.
- Proficiency in the use of Minitab Statistical Analysis software
- Proficiency in the use of Share Point (CIRA) software.
- Physical Requirements:
- Normal office environment including telephone and computer work.
- Position requires travel of up to 75%, including overnight travel.
- Training sessions will require prolonged standing in a classroom environment.
- May need to transit manufacturing spaces on a regular basis. Occasional lifting of training materials, office supplies or files.
