Job description
A local government organization is seeking a Comptroller. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in accounting in a management function, experience in government or nonprofit accounting, and a strong understanding of GASB and FASB standards.
Responsibilities- Maintain general ledger and review adjusting entries
- Review budget updates, and Capital Improvement Programs (CIP)
- Review payroll reports, capital asset entries, and Accounts Payable reports
- Review and post financial reports
- Prepare and review financial statements and schedules
- Manage short- and long-term debt usage
- Manage property tax collections and intergovernmental agreements
- Maintain and review cash and investments
- Provide supervision for accounting staff and interns
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 6+ years in management position preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Knowledge of GASB and FASB standards
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial reports
- Strong communication skills
