Overview:
We are on a mission to enhance multicultural mental health awareness and wellness within agencies assisting refugees and related populations across Texas. Our Mental Health Awareness Training program aims to empower lay individuals to recognize mental health symptoms, de-escalate crises, and connect individuals with the right resources. We are seeking qualified on-call Mental Health First Aid Instructors to co-facilitate training sessions with our certified instructor, either in-person or virtually.
Location:
This position can be based in or near any of the seven resettlement cities across Texas: Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston, or San Antonio, allowing for in-person or remote training opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct or co-instruct Mental Health First Aid trainings using adult and/or youth modules.
Coordinate lesson plans with the co-instructor before each training session.
Be present for the full duration of assigned training, instructing agreed-upon segments.
Collect and submit sign-in sheets.
Assist in administering participant pre- and post-surveys.
Distribute incentives to participants, if applicable.
Utilize instructional materials provided by Mental Health First Aid.
Comply with all program and evaluation instructions.
Position Requirements:
Current certification in Adult and/or Youth (required).
Experience working with health and human service organizations, including government agencies, clinics, hospitals, nonprofits, and community, ethnic, or faith-based organizations.
Demonstrated cultural humility and experience working with international populations.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
Self-starter with the ability to work well in a team, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and high flexibility.
Dedication to values, including respect for others, maintaining confidential information, and appreciation for a multicultural workplace.
Commitment to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people.
Reliable transportation, a valid US driver's license, and an active insurance policy.
Training Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of Orientation and Training.
Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
Physical Demands:
Manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity required.
Repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, sustained visual and mental demands.
Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).

Travel within the State of Texas is required.
