Job description
LaSalle Network is partnered with a top health system in Illinois that is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Outpatient Surgical Coder to join the growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for assigning accurate and compliant procedure and diagnosis codes to surgical reports, ensuring timely and accurate claim submission.
Outpatient Surgical Coder Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret surgical reports and other medical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes
Maintain a high level of accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines
Stay up to date on coding updates and changes
Research and clarify any coding queries with physicians or other healthcare professionals
Collaborate with the billing department to ensure timely and accurate claim submission
Maintain a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
Outpatient Surgical Coder Requirements:
Must be an Illinois resident
Minimum of 2 years of experience in outpatient surgical coding
Must have CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
