SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Billing Tech is primarily responsible for recording & maintaining client service records in the Billing system. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure that all data is entered accurately & efficiently. It is also the responsibility of this position to work closely with the clinical staff to ensure that all eligible clients receive the appropriate services available to them through BCCS under their insurance plan. The Billing Tech is responsible for providing quality, sufficient and appropriate services and for maintaining high professional standards.

- 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
- Comply with all BCCS policies and procedures.
- Maintain Medicaid client listing on a daily basis reporting any changes in client eligibility status to immediate supervisor.
- Responsible for entering all billable charges into the Perfect Care Billing system using both Smart information system and service superbills for verification purposes.
- Advise and follow up with clinicians when authorization is necessary for client to receive services.
- Required to work with the Nursing staff to obtain appropriate authorization for Psychiatric services.
- Establish/maintain a good working relationship with insurance co case management staff in order to expedite the authorization process.
- Required to document Perfect Care system with any information regarding client status. ie: Admissions, discharges, authorizations, insurance eligibility and or change of treatment units/counselors.
- Must update client demographics and billing information in Perfect Care upon discovery of any changes.
- Responsible for maintaining client billing paper file. ie: New Admissions, authorizations & discharges.
- Work with Medicaid staff when necessary, to assist client in obtaining Medicaid eligibility.
- Responsible for coverage of all Billing job duties in the event of vacation, illness, emergency or leave of absence.
- Responsible for all handwritten appeals to insurance carriers due to incorrect denials or payments.
- Responsible for posting all insurance company payments & denials in the Perfect Care billing system.
- Responsible for working and completing monthly aged summary reports. Completed reports must be given to immediate supervisor.
- Responsible for working and completing monthly authorization count-down report. Completed reports must be given to Billing Manager.
- Must be capable of handling and completing multiple projects as requested by supervisor.
- Responsible for initiating authorization process to all appropriate BCCS staff, faxing authorization requests to all appropriate parties at the insurance company, documenting the Perfect Care system as to all actions performed for authorization, posting authorizations in Perfect care system upon receipt, and keeping superbills organized as to post immediately upon receiving authorizations.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings and other office related duties.
Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: High School Diploma
- REQUIRED: Minimum 2 years Medical Billing experience
- REQUIRED: Minimum 2 years typing/computer experience.
Pay:
- Starting at $21/hr.
- Commensurate based on experience and education
