Description:
Crossroads United Way (CRUW) is committed to improving the lives of all people of North Central Indiana. The Director of Finance and Human Resources is the lead staff for the transparent management of the organization’s internal financial processes in partnership with an outside accounting entity as well as managing and leading other various HR duties in support of CRUW’s donors, Board, President/CEO and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and direct Finance and HR, including strategy, policy making, budgeting, insurance, financial tracking, and staff management. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Manage day to day financial functions, coordinating work with Unifi (outside processor) according to timelines.
- Serve on the Finance Committee.
- Prepare and oversight of annual budget and event budgets.
- Ensure that the following are accomplished/processed: donations, payments, payables, invoicing.
- Work with outside processor (UniFi) to prepare & provide timely financial information & responses to inquiries.
- Ensure collection/assembly of information for external auditors for the annual audit.
- Oversee grant financials, both payments to NPO partners and grant revenue received, working closely with the Community Impact and Fundraising teams.
- Oversee processing, tracking, and forwarding pledge forms during annual campaign.
- Ensure that donor data and reports are maintained in Andar.
- Manage miscellaneous quarterly and annual functions such as designation notification and payout processing, various mass communications with donors, raffle licensure and vendor contracts.
- Maintain banking relationships.
- Coordinate ongoing professional development and appropriate skills training on pertinent topics.
- Provide HR guidance and support - including new employee orientation, onboarding development, overseeing offsite payroll processing and maintaining insurance, payroll and personnel records.
- Provide backup office operations support when needed; including answering phones & greeting visitors. • Provide miscellaneous special event, campaign and community support.
- Effectively communicate and develop relationships with CRUW stakeholders.
- When necessary, fill in for the President and CEO of CRUW at community events or functions.
- Represent United Way with courtesy, tact and discretion.
- Safeguard confidential information used in the performance of duties.
- Support the President, Board and staff in fulfilling CRUW’s mission.
Knowledge and Skills:

- Ability to effectively manage multiple types of financial transactions, processes and projects.
- Extensive computer literacy with proficiency in Excel, spreadsheets, databases and word processing.

- Quality relationship-building skills with the ability to listen well and relate to others.
- Possess a pleasant attitude with the ability to be confidential.

- Valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle (with valid insurance coverage).
- Able and willingness to work some nights and weekends as needed for special events and community engagement.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or related area. 5+ years of professional knowledge and experience in accounting, finance, auditing, grant management, or similar business activities. United Way experience a plus. Bi-lingual Spanish knowledge a plus.
