Thalia Hall Security Manager
Full Time- Salaried ($55,000 - $58,000)
Thalia Hall is looking for a friendly and experienced Security Manager to join our team. As a venue, we strive to be #1 in Safety and Hospitality and offer an unparalleled concert-going experience to our guests. This role will assist in shaping and developing new house policies, establishing an efficient deployment and championing a culture of safety.
Whether checking credentials or IDs, securing the stage, or escorting an artist team backstage, a successful Security Manager is one that has the safety of our guests as their #1 concern.
Candidates must be skilled in effective de-escalation and resolution of security disputes, enforcing and modeling a welcoming and inclusive environment, and effectively leading a team. They will liaise and work closely with our Operations and Production team to staff and schedule appropriately and adjust deployment to meet the needs of each specific event.
The ideal candidate for this role is a “people person” capable of actively participating in welcoming guests and being a model of hospitality. Thalia Hall hosts an incredibly wide array of events and performances - the duties of this position are not comprehensive, this person will be asked to enthusiastically jump in where needed to make it happen.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous music venue/events experience in Security, preferably in a leadership role
- Current PERC license required
- Skilled in interpersonal communication and teamwork
- You’ve done it all - Checking a bag, operating a mag or wand, standing in a barricade, escorting an artist, or dealing with a difficult guest. You’re happy to be flexible and proactively jump in where you’re needed most.
- Friendly, approachable demeanor
- Proven ability to handle difficult customer interactions and exceed expectations in hospitality
- Experience in managing and leading a team of staff - with the ability to creatively problem solve crowd logistics issues
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights and weekends a must.
- Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded manner. Position requires ability to stand for long periods and work in a loud environment
- Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Assist Venue management team in establishing best practices for Security
- Work with venue management and security contractor leadership in identifying ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the overall security operation.
- Manage a dedicated team of House Security Agents
- Jump in where needed to facilitate a smooth ingress and egress, handle difficult guest situations or ejections, etc.
- Proactively identify areas of safety or security concern and address or notify management for further action
- Assist management with guest and staff compliance of all venue policies and procedures
- Enforce house code of conduct, be a strong advocate for inclusivity, respect and a welcoming environment
- Learn, communicate, and train others on existing house emergency procedures
*Open availability during the week of Lollapalooza (dates TBD, end of July / early August) and NYE is required for this position. Unless otherwise discussed upon hiring no requests off for these dates will be considered. This is a requirement of your employment at Thalia Hall.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in event or music venue Security, preferably in a leadership role
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 35 hours a week.
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 5-6 hours per day.
- Must be able to speak and hear via walkie-talkie using an in-ear earpiece
- Will frequently climb stairs, reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data.
- Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music. Earplugs are your friend!
