Job Description

The SoC Development team is looking for an experienced engineer to join a team working on design, verification, prototyping and validation of hard disk drive controller SoCs.

As part of the SoC development team you will be involved in many aspects of SoC/ASIC development including design, verification, prototyping, timing closure and validation of state-of-the-art silicon technologies, emulation, and prototyping platforms. You will contribute to the success of industry leading data storage control SoC’s that get deployed into high volume consumer and enterprise products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand ASIC hardware architecture and function for large scale, multi-processor, multi-core designs
• Emulation/Prototyping of SoC designs using platforms such as FPGAs, Synopsys ZeBu, Synopsys HAPS, Cadence Palladium, Cadence Protium and/or Siemens Veloce
• Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ firmware that operates and tests the SoC hardware
• Develop, test and support UVM testbenches for SoC level verification
• Create testplan documentation and participate in code reviews
• Verify various features using targeted/random/corner-case/coverage tests
• Simulate and debug RTL and digital circuits using tools such as Synopsys VCS, Synopsys Execution Manager, Cadence Xcelium, Cadence vManager and/or Siemens Questa
• Regression management and code/functional coverage analysis
• Create documentation to be used for validation plans and results
• Provide reference firmware as needed and develop ASIC hardware driver
• Develop, test and support scripts for simulation, regression management, synthesis/timing, emulation, prototyping and other tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a related field
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong technical skills in SoC development
• Interest in ASICs, SoCs, FPGAs, hard disk drives, flash, semiconductor components
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
• Strong team-player who can collaborate with colleagues

Compensation & Benefits Details

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education;

• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
• You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
