Job description
Responsible for the credentialing process in Medical Staff Services, to include, but not limited to, processing initial Medical and Allied Health Professional Staff applications, reappointment applications, temporary privileges, verify current licensure, maintain accurate, current and confidential data basis for medical staff members, distributing updated rosters on a quarterly basis, send out monthly Board follow-ups, maintain credentials files, follow-up on expired licenses, DEA, Insurance, etc.. Other duties shall include, but not be limited to, providing initial contact and assistance to visitors, physicians and employees that come into the MSS Office, first line telephone answering, replying to physician reference letters, opening and appropriate distribution of departmental mail, ordering departmental supplies, maintaining files and manuals for ready access of information in accordance with established procedures, and other duties as assigned by the department manager.
Demonstrated ability to type accurately
Minimum of three years recent experience in processing of Medical Staff initial and reappointment applications in a hospital or managed care setting.
Basic knowledge of Title 22 and The Joint Commission credentialing regulations and standards
Familiarity with Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations pertaining to initial appointment and reappointment. Familiarity with Allied Health Professional Rules and Regulations and policies/procedures pertaining to initial appointment, reappointment and evaluations.
Knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications, WordPerfect and Micro-Med Medical Staff software
