This is a Full-Time, exempt position with full benefits starting on July 1, 2024. For the right candidate, an earlier start date may be possible. This is an in-person role with some work-from-home flexibility.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range is between $115,000 and $135,000, based on experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising program, including objectives, budgets, and goals.
• Manage the development budget and meet annual targets.
• Work closely with the Board Development committee; prepare analytical and strategic reports.
• Cultivate and steward donors; research potential philanthropic investors, directly solicit gifts and identify grant opportunities; identify corporate and foundation funding opportunities.
• Engage the Board of Directors in stewardship efforts and plan annual stewardship events.
• Develop a robust culture of philanthropy with Kehillah’s parent association (“KPA”) prospective families, and the faculty.
• Work with the CFO and the Business Office to determine and manage budget and collect pledges.
• Establish and execute development plans and programs for annual, major, and capital campaigns.
• Lead all donor-facing events and oversee the execution of the Annual Fund, K-Fun Gala, Annual Meeting, and Alumni events; organize, recruit, and train event volunteers; track sponsorships, donations, ticket sales, and RSVPs for events.
• Collaborate with the communications team to facilitate printed fundraising materials and event collateral.
• Support community engagement through Kehillah's Parent Association.
• Strengthen relationships with alumni and plan alumni events and reunions; ensure accurate alumni database records.
• Research, write, and submit grant proposals and provide grant reporting.
• Maintain comprehensive donor pledges and records and ensure financial accuracy in Raiser’s Edge; provide development reports as required.
• Produce acknowledgements of contributions and coordinate special recognition for different giving levels.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Education : Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a related discipline preferable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Proven success in soliciting major gifts, managing fundraising campaigns, and building donor relationships is essential.
• Knowledge of Fundraising Strategies : In-depth knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies, and techniques, including prospect research, cultivation, and stewardship. Familiarity with various fundraising channels such as direct mail, events, major gifts, and grants is necessary.
• Leadership Skills : Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and engage staff, volunteers, and board members in fundraising efforts.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively articulate the organization's mission and fundraising goals to diverse audiences. The Director of Development should be able to create compelling fundraising materials and presentations.
• Relationship Building : Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, board members, community partners, and other stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people are essential.
• Strategic Thinking: A strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans aligned with the Kehillah's mission and objectives. Experience in analyzing data and using metrics to drive fundraising strategies and decision-making is required.
• Budget Management : Proficiency in budget development and financial management related to development activities. The Director of Development should have experience in setting fundraising goals, monitoring progress, and ensuring the effective allocation of resources.
• Technology Skills : Proficiency in using donor management software and databases, such as Raiser's Edge, Constant Contact, and G- Suite. Familiarity with online fundraising platforms such as Greater Giving and digital marketing techniques is highly desirable.
• Ethical Standards : Strong ethical standards and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Knowledge of ethical fundraising practices and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards is necessary.
• Nonprofit Sector Knowledge : Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, including an understanding of philanthropy trends, donor motivations, and fundraising best practices. Knowledge of education-related fundraising is a plus.
• Commitment to Mission : A genuine passion for the Kehillah’s mission and the ability to effectively communicate its impact to donors and stakeholders. Dedication to fostering community engagement and supporting the organization's overall goal.
• Must reside in the State of California at the time of hire and work on campus during regularly scheduled hours.
