North Spring Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. is a multifaceted behavioral healthcare system comprised of three programs to serve children and adolescents with a broad spectrum of psychiatric service needs. Programs of service include an 87-bed, Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services licensed, Joint Commission accredited psychiatric residential treatment facility, a Partial Hospitalization Program, and a 40-bed acute psychiatric hospital. Our HR department is currently welcoming a full-time Generalist to assist both our residential and outpatient teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the day to day administrative functions of the human resources department. Reflects behavior, attitude and appearance appropriate to the position and is supportive of the facility and corporate philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Supports CEO, and Director of Human Resources with administrative tasks, special projects and any/all tasks that may arise.
- Coordinates the work with Accounts Payable / Payroll office regarding employees’ leaves, payments to HR vendors, leave payouts etc.
- Foster a rapport with North Spring employees through employee services. Organizes with pay check distribution, training, leave administration and related HR areas including answering employee questions.
- Assists the Director of Human Resources and others with the administration of employee engagement programs including but not limited to the Employee of the Month, Kudos program and Unit Champions.
- Maintains and updates all employee personnel records in Lawson in a timely fashion. Manages and processes all employees’ account changes, promotions/job changes, terminations, taxes and deductions, etc.
- Maintains and updates credentialing folders for all medical and other credentialing-eligible staff.
- Ensures compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
- Is responsible for reporting weekly vacancy report to CFO, daily recruiting report to CEO and HRD and other reports.
- Prepares and maintains accurate spreadsheets for purposes of reporting pertinent employment information to the leadership team. Manages and maintains the MHT FTE grid. Handles the weekly supervisors’ meeting. Keeps track of absenteeism and tardiness.
- Completes reports on employment activity, updates position control spreadsheet and other HR documents daily.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Oversees facility-wide recruiting efforts to include, advertising, screening resumes, forwarding qualified applicants’ resumes to hiring managers, coordinating and scheduling interviews.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open Mental Health Specialist positions. Conduct preliminary phone screens, schedules and holds pre-employment tests and face-to-face interviews with Mental Health Specialist applicants.
- Provides administrative and organizational support for HR events such as new employee orientation, hiring events (usually takes place on weekends) etc.
- Coordinates recruiting and retention strategies and succession planning process.
- Acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications, including CPS, FBI, ACE Assessment, Precheck (background checks, driving record checks, education verification etc.) and other HR hire paperwork.
- Maintains solid professional relationships with external stakeholders (such as Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, licensing authorities, UHS, Precheck, Shaker etc.)
- Greets guests arriving at the Administrative Building (Manor House) following policy regarding security and Service Excellence.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Compensation package : Competitive salary. Qualifications Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a preference for studies in Business, Human Resources or Organizational Development. Will consider candidates with strong HR experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: Some Human Resources experience required with preference given for 1-2 years Human Resources experience in a healthcare setting.
- Certificates, licenses and registrations: None required. Preference given for SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
- Must type 50 WPM and be proficient in MS Office software including Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Requires administrative secretarial skills with well-developed organizational ability, detail orientation, good communications skills and strong customer service skills.
