Brief Job Overview/Summary


The School of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position in the Social Work program, starting September 1, 2024. The position requires a Ph.D. in Social Work or D.S.W.; if ABD, the degree must be completed by September 1, 2024. Minimum of two years post-MSW practice is required. Excellent teaching at the college level in social work or a related field is expected along with a focused research agenda and service to the program, community, and profession. Candidates should be able to teach across the curriculum including social work practice, research, and social welfare policy areas. Expectation is to teach in the MSW program at the Atlantic City Campus, including evenings and Saturdays. Candidates are expected to advise students regarding their educational and career goals. Experience with marginalized, oppressed, and/or vulnerable populations is required. Experience with anti-racist pedagogy in an academic setting is preferred.



Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


Candidates will be expected to be able to teach 3 courses per semester in areas of social work practice, research, and social welfare policy, both evening and weekend course offerings. Service to the program, University, community, and profession are also expected, as well as engagement in a program of scholarship. Additional responsibilities include accreditation activities, curriculum development, and student advisement as negotiated under the collective bargaining agreement.
