Covia is looking for a dynamic
Senior Product Manager, Specialties who will have a positive impact on the
Commercial team at its
Huntersville, NC location. The Covia Product Manager is responsible for developing and optimizing a product offering based on customer insights, competitive and market intelligence, and executing that strategy to optimize the offerings, market position, organic growth, and financial return of the product portfolio across the product lifecycle. The Product Manager will actively manage P&L to maximize the growth, development and return on investment of the organization’s product portfolio today and in the future. This is done by managing existing business initiatives, superior commercial execution through Sales, and building multi-generational product and asset plans.
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities: - Lead development and implementation of product and asset strategies and projects to optimize returns across all time horizons, ensuring consistency with defined Industrial Segment Strategy.
- Drive revenue growth and maximize return on assets through overall product life cycle management and product line development. Drive product innovation thought leadership by product family working closely with Product Development & Innovation (PDI) leadership team. Product Management and PDI will own multi-generational product plans that deliver performance and costs consistent with multi-generational application plans (owned by Strategic Marketing and PDI), delivering targeted segment level gross margin growth and optimizing the return on assets for the business.
- Work with internal stakeholders (Sales, Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering and Pricing COE) to optimize medium- and long-term product profitability and asset flexibility. Product Management and Manufacturing will own long-term asset plans.
- Demonstrate product leadership on product S&OP issues between supply chain / operations management. Leads product and asset allocation work in times of product constraints, working with operations, supply chain, sales, legal, etc. Have decision rights on allocation strategy and execution.
- By working closely with Sales, PDI, and Marketing, collects competitive intelligence. Monitors competitor and customer business and strategy developments to identify emerging issues and opportunities. Creates effective gap analysis summaries. Develops appropriate strategies and tactics for given product areas.
- Leads investigations of new business opportunities requiring new technologies, geographies, building alliances or potential acquisitions.
- Own analytics in key areas around the product (Product list pricing, product profitability and costing, marketing ROI, project ROI, interface with operations on product operational and financial metrics).
- Ensure compliance with company standards regarding Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS), product commercialization, etc.
The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications: - Self-motivated, high-energy individual who can function in a high demand, performance-driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree or higherin a Business or Technical discipline, required. MBA degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience with demonstrated success in product management dealing with industrial products
- Strong financial acumen, commercial and analytical thinker with relevant experience interacting with and assessing complex business models, working with diverse data sources and P&L key metrics
- Lead cross-functional teams, collaborate well with diverse organizations and lead without authority
- Pragmatic problem solver with strong presentation skills
- Self-driven, energetic, creative, and resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and strong commercial acumen (ability to work dynamically across functions)
- Excellent planning, execution, and project management skills
- Commercially capable with ability to present well to customers, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership
