Job Description

The Architectural Designer is responsible for planning and designing structures and facilities based on program criteria and requirements, including but not limited to, physical limitations, brand standards and safety and government regulations.

WDD Employees are required, on a continual basis to:

• Contribute to a safe work environment, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.

• Mentor and provide professional guidance for less senior staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and design buildings, such as hospitality/hotel resorts, casino, residential towers, theaters, office buildings, and other complex buildings.
• Consult with architectural supervisor and client to determine functional and spatial requirements of structure.
• Prepare presentation documents for the client review.
• Prepare information regarding design, construction specifications, materials, color, equipment and assist with preparation of estimated costs, and construction time.
• Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to ensure accuracy of design work throughout all project phases.
• Review and revise designs as required.
• Integrate engineering elements into a unified design.
• Prepare scale drawings utilizing 2D sketching and AutoCAD.
• Prepare contract documents for construction contractors.
• Review Shop Drawings, Submittals, operating and maintenance manuals, studies, and reports.
• Direct activities of colleagues engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
• Conduct periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans and specifications.
• Ensure design specification adhere to safety and standards and governmental regulations (i.e. ADA, OSHA, BECP)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in architecture or a minimum of (8) eight years of architectural experience of which (1) one year is involved with developing and coordinating major construction projects.
• Proven experience with developing and writing specifications, working knowledge of building codes and ordinances.
• Excellent interpersonal experience working with clients to determine needs and design based on those needs.
• Any person licensed as an Architect in another state must become licensed as an Architect in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment as a condition of employment.
• Interest in International projects, four and/or five-star resort hospitality and resort design
• Eligibility of being licensed by the Nevada State Board of Architecture and Interior Design to practice architecture in the State of Nevada.

SPECIAL

QUALIFICATIONS

:

• Comprehensive experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Exchange, and Windows and latest AutoCAD version, REVIT, Rhino.)
• Ability to work in a creative, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and fast paced team environment.
• Ability to approach all tasks with proactive thinking and a comprehensive plan of action.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

COMMUNUCATION SKILLS:

Ability to read, comprehend, and compose complex instructions, correspondence, and memorandum. Ability to author correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Consistently demonstrate active listening.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy necessary to understand and coordinate complex technical documents and specifications as part of the design, documentation, and construction process.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple and complex instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Essential duties for this position include but not limited to the following: able to work within a variety of climates, safely lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds on occasions as well as sit for up to 90% of the workday. Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions and practice safety procedures at all times.

Ability and positive willingness to work varying schedules and hours required to meet the business needs of the project(s) at hand.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on a project site, the noise level increases too loud. When on a project site, employees are required to comply with all contractor-imposed safety procedures.

The team member will allocate and devote appropriate time, attention, energy, effort, concentration, ability, and talent to all tasks assigned, such that the team member’s contributions to the work of Wynn Design & Development not only meet all expected deadlines but result in resort products that stand at the forefront of international hospitality and gaming experience. As a salaried exempt team member of Wynn Design & Development, freelance consulting services, works-for-hire, or any outside services performed for compensation are dilutive to the responsibilities defined herein and are not permitted. Product design and licensing agreements are permitted but efforts required to support such business arrangements must not be performed during business hours and product may not be specified or sold to Wynn Resorts or its affiliates.
