Job Description
Electrical Hardware Engineer responsible for leading the design and development of hardware of electronic control modules for adjustment systems (Door Control Modules / Memory Seat Modules), with a specific focus on DC motor controls utilizing PWM. The position requires the Engineer to be able to design and troubleshoot electronic modules, schedule all hardware activities including coordination of development hardware builds, and troubleshoot hardware problems. The Engineer will be responsible for schematic entry, overseeing the layout of production-worthy PCB’s, perform Worst Case Circuit Calculations and presenting to customer technical specialists. The Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Essential functions:
- Design circuit board schematics with embedded microcontrollers and discrete electronics, utilizing CAN/LIN bus architectures, per system requirements.
- Perform engineering analysis, including DFMEA, Worst Case Circuit Analysis, and Thermal Analysis.
- Create, document, and execute design performance testing.
- Participate in engineering design through all phases of the process including quote, development, and transfer to production phases.
- Responsible for electronic hardware prototype builds.
- Perform hardware requirements analysis and provide traceability through customer specifications.
- Interface closely with software engineers and produce documentation detailing software control and strategies that apply to the hardware design.
- Lead design and drawing reviews.
- Support validation of modules during DV/PV phases, including external EMC lab testing and troubleshooting.
- Lead discussions with customers in regards to hardware development and troubleshooting efforts.
Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Degree (BSEE) with 10+ years of experience designing and developing hardware for the automotive market.
- Knowledge of Schematic Entry (Mentor Graphics or similar), Doors, MathCAD, SPICE is highly desired.
- Knowledge of EMC testing methods and setups, equipment used, and demonstrated ability to correct EMC failures.
