If you are an Accounting Controller with Construction or Manufacturing industry experience, please read on!

We are a large construction contractor with strong focus on commercial new construction and service projects. We've got an excellent company structure and currently, we are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our office near Edison, NJ

This position is 100% on-site and reports to our Regional Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee annual revenues over $100M
• Manage an opeation with union and non-union employees
• Create financial statements every month
• Carry out account reconciliation
• Create sales and use tax returns
• Keep an eye on payroll tax reporting
• Compile work-in-progress reports for meetings related to operations
• Participate in operational meetings
• Help with the cost analysis of larger bid projects
• Establish benchmarks for labor burden and overhead costs, and then evaluate and revise them as needed
• Examine how the new Project Cards are set up
• Examine the absorption of overhead expenses
• Calculate the expected expenses to finish bonded jobs
• Finish the Contract Profit report by balancing the GL with the project cards
• Help create and put into practice inventory control methods
• Keep an eye on inventory levels and encourage units to reduce quantities and boost turnover
• Oversee physical inventories
• Oversee the divisions' resource sharing

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• Job costing experience
• Construction or manufacturing accounting experience
• Experience managing up to 5 direct reports
• Strong understanding of in-house payroll process and payroll tax reporting
• Strong WIP and Percent to Completion accounting skills
• ERP Accounting Systems; Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Sage, or something similar
