The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description As the Head of Operational Risk Management for Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions (GRS), you will play a critical role in designing, implementing and overseeing GRS operational risk management capabilities across our globally diverse business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute the GRS operational risk management framework to provide oversight of operational risk management across end-to-end GRS business processes, globally. Maintain and enhance the operational risk management framework to align with industry best practices.Coordinate with key stakeholders to identify, assess, and prioritize operational risks to improve awareness and understanding of potential threats, risks, or scenarios that have the potential to impact GRS ability to achieve strategic goals and objectives or cause a material operational loss to GRS.Serve as a trusted advisor and provide thought leadership in operational risk management to Risk colleagues and business stakeholders, particularly related to risk identification, strategies to adequately mitigate identified risks, and performing risk and control assessments. - Monitor developments in the GRS Operational Risk Profile and significant sources of operational risk. Lead strategic analysis of operational risks to provide insights into risk themes, trends and developments to inform risk mitigation strategies.
Lead the assessment and aggregation of the GRS operational risk profile, globally, coordinating across business segments and legal entities.Implement robust risk reporting systems to provide timely and accurate insights into the GRS operational risk profile, escalating issues as and when necessary.Lead a high-performing global operational risk team, a Center of Excellence within the GRS Risk Office. Participation in the group-wide harmonization of operational risk management methodology and support the consolidation of enterprise operational risk management platforms. Lead the GRS rollout of the new Group-wide operational risk management system.Develop training programs related to key operational risk management concepts to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous learning.Prepare meeting materials for the GRS ERM Committee, GRS Operational Risk Management Committee, and Corporate Operational Risk Committee; present at these Committees as required.Partner with other assurance functions including Compliance, Information Security, and Internal Audit to ensure timely information sharing and connected operational risk views. - Contribute to ad-hoc initiatives as needed to support the execution of GRS Risk mandate and priorities.
Qualifications - Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor`s degree in a quantitative field and 10+ years of relevant experience
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly preferred, as is having a professional qualification in one or more areas of enterprise risk management or its equivalent
- Additionally, excellent quantitative analysis and modeling skills, and significant experience in an analytical capacity (eg financial analysis, product management, actuarial, underwriting, etc) is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of ERM-related regulatory frameworks (Solvency II, NAIC ORSA, ComFrame) is highly preferred
- Experience managing a team is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings, as well as proven ability to effectively present technical concepts to non-technical individuals within and outside of the organization are highly preferred
- Ability to foster and encourage teamwork and productive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels and across organizational lines required
