Job description
As a Network Controller, you will play a pivotal role in supporting critical missions through your expertise in network operations and maintenance. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with sophisticated network security capabilities and support operations that are vital to national and global security.
Key Missions Supported:
JRSS (Joint Regional Security Stack): Centralized network security suite.
Enterprise SATCOM Gateway Services (ESGS): Technical and operational support for DoD Gateway facilities.
Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Operations Support.
Missile Defense Agency Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Communications Network.
Operational Engineering, Service Activations, Performance Management, Configuration Management, Administration, and Security.
Primary Responsibilities:
Proactively seek solutions to resolve monitoring errors through research and documentation.
Troubleshoot network issues using router commands, understanding loops, alarms, and errors, alongside other advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
Employ network monitoring tools to identify, track, and resolve issues efficiently, escalating complex issues as needed.
Efficiently create and update incident tickets utilizing Remedy.
Address networking technologies issues on a live, global network infrastructure.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum education: High school diploma with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Must possess DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) upon starting.
Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational setting.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, performance management.
Expertise in routers, switches, crypto devices, routing protocols, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching.
A general understanding of network topologies, including transport and IP networks.
