Department Summary:
UNT is a Hispanic-serving and Minority-serving public research university with a Research 1 (R1) Carnegie classification enrolling over 44,000 students. The Department of Biological Sciences, one of four departments in the College of Science, has over 45 faculty, 160 graduate and 2,800 undergraduate students. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to research and teaching in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Ecology, Environmental Science, Plant Biology, and organismal-environment interactions. Position Summary:
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a multiyear continuing Lecturer position in the area of Biological Sciences with emphasis on Biochemistry, Genetics and Cell Biology. Duties involve (1) teaching 3 courses per semester that could include Introductory Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, and Elementary Biochemistry at the Frisco campus with at least one course per year at the Denton campus. Responsibilities would also include (2) serving as an advisor (up to 25% time commitment) to our undergraduate students. This position is one of multiple open positions in the department, including tenure-track positions in the areas of computational biochemistry/biology, microbial genomics, immunology, and genetics with emphasis on epigenetics. These positions complement recent hires in the areas of neurobiology, invertebrate biology, systems biology, and cell biology.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements include PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or related areas and college teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with 1 or 2 years of full-time of teaching at the college or university level; prior experience teaching more than one of the following: Introductory Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Cell Biology; experience in undergraduate advising; research experience in biochemistry, genetics or cell biology; an ability to work with a diverse population; experience teaching face-to-face classes; experience with different learning technologies including Canvas and online teaching.
