Job description
Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per Diem Environmental Aide (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department at Chilton Medical Center. Required hours are: 11:00PM-7:00AM , including every other weekend.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
General cleaning – 7 step cleaning procedure in assigned areas: high/low dusting, floor dusting, damp dusting and spot clean, trash removal, bathroom cleaning, damp mopping, vacuum carpets, damp mop or vacuum baseboards.
- Inspection of completed area: Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients’ rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
- Follow all prescribed State, Federal, JCAHO, Hospital and department standards.
- Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
- Ability to provide a clean/safe environment for patients/visitors/team members.
- Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
- Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
- Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
- Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
- Reports any repairs to maintenance.
- Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent required or will obtain within 2 years of employment.
- To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.
- Must be able to be on your feet for an extended period of time.
- Great Customer service/people skills a must.
Relevant Experience:
- Previous environmental aide/housekeeping experience in a healthcare/hospital environment preferred.
