Job Purpose
Performs Autoclave Sterilization Procedures every day following our policy. Prepares equipment and workplace for use and contributes to supportive atmosphere for center patients. Takes guidance from Lead Dental Assistant and Practice Administrator to follow standard sterilization techniques cleaning equipment from multiple specialty areas including dental, podiatry and women's health..
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
- Clear units of used instruments, properly prepare for sterilization process, sterilize instruments and prepare setups for next use.
- Inspects and sterilizes instruments, insuring they are clean and functioning properly.
- Perform high level disinfection according to established policies and procedures.
- Prepares office and treatment areas each day in accordance with Center policies. Performs pre and post treatment setup/cleanup procedures for each patient according to the Center's protocols.
- Performs independent patient services, as directed, including patient triage, digital radiographs, and impressions.
- Maintains adequate inventory of center supplies, including podiatry, dental and women's health.
- Strictly follows all safety and infection control standards at all times.
- Perform Autoclave Sterilization Procedures every day following our policy based on infection control standards at all times:
- Central processing area or "sterilization room"
- Instrument processing and sterilizing
- Hand piece sterilization procedure:
- Sterilization Room Cleaning and Maintenance
- Complies with all infection control policies and procedures outlined by the organization in accordance with professional, state, and federal guidelines.
Administrative:
- Demonstrates respect and dignity for patients and staff at all times. Works as an effective team member to promote efficient patient care for maximum productivity.
- Other duties as assigned by management

- Knowledgeable about instruments, materials and techniques used for all procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ICE Certified through the Dental Assisting National Boards Infection Control Exam or Graduate of a Certified Sterile Processing Technician program that has been certified through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization technique, and infection control requirements
- 1+ years' experience with sterilizing medical and dental tools
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Listening skills/follows direction
- Reliable Transportation to travel from site to site
- Knowledgeable about instruments, materials and techniques used for all procedures.
