Job description
Position Summary
The Sales Manager performs vital functions in the business development and account management functions of the company, ensuring that we grow and develop our existing customer accounts and develop new customer accounts to grow the organization profitably.
General responsibilities will be to meet with high value clients and prospects to understand project requirements and strategic opportunities, assist with the development quotes for projects, present quotes to customers and prospects, communicate with contacts to close new orders, and coordinating the project handoff to the rest of our production team.
A successful Sales Manager will have a broad knowledge of Precision Machining capabilities (specifically CNC Swiss, and Centerless Grinding), and be able to communicate effectively and strategically on technical project requirements. They can problem solve quickly, be highly proactive, attentive to details, have strong written and verbal communication and presenting skills, and be highly collaborative with internal and external team members.
This position is a very hands-on and high energy position and requires a high degree of multi-tasking to interact with clients, prospects, vendors, shop floor personnel, quality, purchasing and other manufacturing groups to ensure the most successful results for projects.

Job Requirements:
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.
- A minimum of 3 years in the precision machining industry.
- A minimum of 5 years in sales with sales management experience.
- Strong track record of closing accounts in a wide range of industries.
- Management of Customer Service department personnel.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Preferred: ERP experience (Global Shop Systems or similar).
- Preferred: CRM experience (HubSpot or other).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Define and monitor the company's Sales Plan, specifically including goals, performance metrics, and the identification of new business opportunities related to specific markets and/or technologies, to maintain profitable growth.
- Communicate with clients about project requirements.
- "Lead from the front" by prioritizing and delegating responsibilities to the inside sales team and process engineer/s.
- Follow up and throughout the sales cycle with clients about quote process and status and to close projects in a timely manner.
- Manage client expectations and company requirements to ensure new project kick offs.
- Travel to prospect and customer accounts when needed to ensure strong partnerships.
- Report monthly on departmental metrics and present to management for feedback and strategic review.
- Collaborate with customers to identify improvement opportunities to help maintain consistently high levels of customer satisfaction and foster long term loyalty.
- Work with engineering team in getting client information needed for quotes, new project kick offs, and ongoing orders.
- Assess Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
- Develop existing accounts into strong partnerships to grow our share of business with them.
- Develop accounts across a wide array of industries to provide stability and long-term growth strategies.
- Work with CEO to maintain strong profit margins on all customer projects.
- Keep abreast of the company's markets and competitors. Investigate and report on any important developments with potential value for the company.
- When warranted, recruit, coach and manage sales engineer(s), including the establishment of performance metrics, appropriate reporting tools, and technical and sales training.
- For direct reports, exercise the usual authority of a manager in terms of Human Resource situations, namely hiring, training, counseling, employee relations, performance evaluation, promotions, and terminations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist CEO with research and development for strategic growth opportunities.
- Assist engineering and quality teams with client communications to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist with the development and improvement of Work Instructions for key work processes in Sales.
- Assist with Company Outreach activities.
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities throughout the sales and account development process.
- Attend and participate in organizational meetings within the company and with customers when appropriate.
- Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
- Other projects and duties as assigned to support operations, sales and management as needed.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, stand, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel parts. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with appropriate assistance.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ear protection may be required for certain processes. Closed-toed shoes and eye protection are required for all activity on the shop floor.
