Job description
Interim Staff Accountant
Our client, a health care investment firm, is looking for a full-time Staff Accountant to support their team in a variety of accounting and reporting responsibilities during a time of change.
This opportunity will be in a hybrid capacity (1-2 days per week), at their offices located in Menlo Park, CA.
The role will have a duration of 3-6 months with the possibility of conversion.
This position will report to the Management Company Controller.
Responsibilities: - Participate in the Management Company and GP financial closing process, preparing journal entries, balance sheet, and income statement account reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements, variance and accounting analysis
- Assist the Controller with coordinating financial workflows and deliverables with third-party finance support
- Coordinating finance topics (general and deal expenses and allocations) with other teams, such as the deal team, PSI and TAG teams, and executive assistants.
- Responsible for online system maintenance for Bill.com, Concur, Harvest, and QuickBooks
- Management Company and GP responsibilities may include:
- Portfolio Company billing preparation, receivable tracking, deal expenses, and quarterly analysis
- Expense reports and credit card analysis utilizing data from Concur
- Collaborate with our satellite office team to assist with intercompany reconciliation between the Management Company and its satellite office
- Collaborate with the GP team to assist with intercompany reconciliations
- Assist with the quarterly expense allocations coordination; expenses, allocations, support
- Assist with capital call and distribution notice preparation
- Assist Controller with updating reconciliation schedules and support
- Generating capital call and distribution notices.
- Preparation of internal reports and ad-hoc report requests
- Assisting in various ad-hoc projects and requests
Requirements:
- 5 years of accounting experience with a focus on private equity, venture, hedge fund, asset management or corporate accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred
- Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, xlookup, conditional formatting, power query, data analysis/manipulation)
- Proficiency in Bill, Concur, and QuickBooks preferred or similar systems
- Experience creating reports and financial analysis
- Comfortable working in a fluid environment; ability to multi-task and balance priorities
- Strong analytical and excellent verbal and written communication skills, highly collaborative
- Demonstrate the highest standards of ethics and integrity
- Referenced upon request
Compensation:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $55 - $75 per hour. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
