Veterinary Imaging Technician (RT/LVT)

We are seeking a Veterinary Imaging Tech (Radiology/Licensed Veterinary Tech) with large animal experience or willingness to work with large animals in our Imaging Section.

What you will do:

• Work with board-certified veterinary radiologists and residents in teaching image acquisition and quality control to our DVM students.
• Attain high quality radiographs on a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs and exotic pets like rabbits and parrots.
• Ability to acquire the technical skills of non-radiographic modalities including nuclear medicine, CT.
• Complete imaging orders and manage PACS for our busy caseload including ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI, nuclear medicine bone scans and I-131 cats.
• Shape the future of veterinary care and education through collaboration with other specialty services while working with a range of patients and disease processes.

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. The majority of our teaching and routine imaging occurs 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday, but some evenings, weekends and holidays may be required.

What we need from you:

• Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited program or an Associate's degree and ARRT certification.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to, stressful situations, prolonged standing, and kneeling, lifting and restraining animals that may exceed 50 lbs., and may need to work for long periods of time with arms extended.
• Willingness to learn and feel comfortable handling large animals (horses, cows, pigs, etc.)
• Rabies pre-exposure vaccination and titer costs covered by Cornell.
• Up to 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• LVT/RT with equine experience highly desirable
• NYS licensure or eligible to be licensed required.

***Pay and Band Level will be commensurate based upon skills, experience and education.
