Job Description:

The Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs is a senior administrative position that plans and directs the development and implementation of practices and procedures that foster effective academic operations. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs ( VPAA ), the Associate Vice President manages the daily operations of eLearning, Program Review, Library, and the Office of Academic Affairs ( OAA ), directing communication and leading the progress on College, President, and/or VPAA -initiated projects and special initiatives. This includes being the steward for the College Catalog, curriculum, and classroom data; compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, as well as academic policies and procedures leading and supervising eLearning.

This is an exempt, administrator position requiring an annually reviewed contract. The incumbent is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental, and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education:

Masters degree

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in higher education and a minimum of 1 year experience in the role[s] of department chair, program director and or coordinator.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to collaborate with the College Registrar and academic Deans to oversee the development of the credit and continuing-education course schedule.
• Ability to provide oversight of the College-wide academic assessment processes in alignment with the standards of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
• Ability to provide oversight for dual enrollment initiatives in collaboration with Harford County Public Schools and HCC Student Affairs Division personnel.
• Ability to supervise the work of staff to ensure the integrity of the college catalog, and oversee creation and maintenance of articulation agreements.
• Knowledge of high-impact educational practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Ability to manage projects, collect follow-up data, and summarize findings on progress and effectiveness.
• Must demonstrate courtesy, diplomacy, tact, and a proven ability to foster relationships based on integrity and professionalism.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, with intermediate skills in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
