Job description
Growing software company is adding a Controller to their staff. This position will be 100% remote with a base salary up to $185K + bonus and equity.
The Controller will oversee all accounting operations for a private equity owned software company. This position manages the accounting department and supervises a staff of 3. The Controller must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skill as well as roll up their sleeve to get in the weeds when needed. Key competencies include financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, business process improvement, complex reporting, internal controls, and team leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing monthly financial statements
- Managing the annual budget process
- Developing internal controls and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP and statutory reporting requirements
- Analyzing financial data to provide insights for decision making.
- Managing cash flow
- Overseeing the annual audit
- Producing management reports
- Improving processes through automation and ensuring accurate and timely financial filings
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years of accounting experience and previous experience as an accounting manager or controller.
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance is required, CPA is highly desired.
- Experience in software company environment a plus and experience working for a private equity owned firm is preferred.
- Strong technical accounting skills are required including advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting standards.
- Advanced skills in accounting and financial reporting software are required.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems is a must.
- Strong communication and management skills are essential.
