Job Purpose:
The Golf Shop Manager is an ambassador for the Kalamazoo Country Club and should act as a role model when it comes to providing personalized service and attention to all customers. This person is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies, analysis, and appropriate reaction to sales trends to ensure the golf merchandise concession maximizes sales and profitability.
What You’ll Be Doing
Golf Shop Operations
- Create a shopping experience for members and guests that is memorable and engaging by interacting and having personal conversations with customers in the store
- Oversees golf merchandising concession to achieve its established mission within the Club
- Oversees development of buying plans and all merchandise related purchasing
- Create multiple attractive and functional merchandise displays updating them weekly to highlight new product arrivals
- Coordinate and execute inventory counts (January, April, October)
- Manage special order process for all customers
- Coordinate the receipt of new merchandise deliveries into the system in a timely manner
- Schedule and meet with apparel vendors to plan purchases for the upcoming season
- Forecast sales and manage buying plan to meet sales goals
- Coordinate special promotions and market sales/discounts to the membership
- Train and lead the Golf Shop Associates including the management of their schedule
Social Media & Marketing
- Coordinate and manage social media accounts following brand standards
- The Golf Shop is known as Horton’s Haberdashery online (Golf Shop owned by Kyle Horton, Kalamazoo CC Director of Golf).
- Execute social media posts and content
- Create regularly scheduled email notifications to customers that include sales flyers and newsletters
- Manage the online website to ensure inventory photos and descriptions are accurate
- Updated as needed with new merchandise
Trade Shows
- Attend semi annual trade shows that are appropriate for Golf Shop buying. These include, but are not limited to:
- Men’s & Women’s Collective – Chicago, IL
- MRA Show – Lansing, MI
- PGA Show – Orlando, FL
What You Need for this Position
- 2+ years retail / customer service management experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
- Maintain professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities
- Encourage staff to engage in learning opportunities to maintain professional expertise and provide resources to meet those objectives.
- Remain up to date with membership relations through constant communication via email or phone call
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
- Research and monitor industry trends to evaluate their fit within the Golf Shop
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected with Greenleaf Hospitality Group
- Maintain and promote a positive professional image at Kalamazoo Country Club as well as within the community
