Job description

Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing, the UX Designer holds a critical role in the Division of Marketing and Communications. This position is integral to crafting outstanding user experiences that not only align with UTEP’s mission but also adhere to web design best practices. The UX Designer collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional teams within the division, contributing to the development of cohesive and user-centric design solutions across various digital platforms.Essential FunctionsProvide leadership and strategic direction to enhance and maintain modern standards of design, institutional branding, and user experience across all digital platforms.Lead project management for user experience design components in web projects, ensuring seamless integration within project timelines while adhering to web design best practices.Conduct thorough reviews of design translations with developers and project managers, ensuring the highest standards of design quality and consistency throughout project implementation.Collect relevant UX data points to analyze the effectiveness of inquiries and marketing pages.Design comprehensive prototypes and mockups, managing the development of associated templates in close collaboration with digital and marketing teams.Perform analysis, gather user feedback, and leverage analytics to make informed, strategic content and design decisions. Participate in quality assurance for all digital marketing initiatives, providing constructive feedback.Stay current with trends in digital design and advertising, applying innovative approaches to enhance design practices.Ensure compliance with ADA guidelines to guarantee accessibility in all digital designs.Understand and articulate the University Strategic Plan, showcasing how the Digital Marketing and Analytics team supports the plan.Actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, providing mentorship to team members, and cultivating a collaborative and growth-oriented design environment.Provide general support to all initiatives within the Marketing and Communication division and undertake other assigned duties as needed.Exhibits proficiency in relevant design tools including Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe XD and Sketch, or Figma.Displays a strong understanding of user-centered design principles.Serves excellent communication and collaboration skills.Demonstrates ability to understand audiences to enhance user experience and drive desired behaviors.Knowledge of excellent wireframing and prototyping skills.Executes advanced user knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications.Presents ability to receive and process feedback on marketing deliverables.Performs user interviews and facilitates critique sessions.Complies with all State and University policies.Other duties may be assigned.

Required QualificationsMinimum Education required: Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, or another related field.andMinimum Experience required: Two years of professional experience in UX design, interaction design, or a related field.Working ConditionsThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
