The Bilingual/Bicultural Case Manager position, at the direction of and in collaboration with the Director of A Child's View program, has the responsibility of providing all case management services to survivors of domestic violence whose children are seeking services at the YWCA EUC, A Child's View program. A Child's View is a creative arts therapy program designed to heal and empower children who have witnessed domestic violence. This position will work closely with the Director to assist in the development of a safe and confidential atmosphere for all program participants. This position reports directly to and is supervised by the Director of A Child's View program.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SPECIALIZED TRAINING
BA/BSW or commensurate experience. Must be bilingual (English and Spanish speaking). Must demonstrate cultural competency through either experience or education. Must have some knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and trauma. Experience with children preferred. Excellent verbal and written skills a must. Must possess strong public speaking skills. Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft office, Power Point and Excel.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Case Management
- Responsible for ensuring the following services are provided to the following to all participants: crisis counseling, intakes, assessments, case management, advocacy, and referrals.
- Responsible for creating an empowering environment for program participants.
- Responsible for maintaining and reporting program statistics.
- Responsible for assisting the Director and Creative Arts Therapy Coordinator with the development and implementation of A Child's View services.
Parent Education
- Educate parents, where appropriate, regarding the dynamics of domestic violence and the effects of witnessing on children.
- Educate parents, where appropriate, regarding non-violent strategies for parenting children who have been traumatized.
- Educate non-offending parents regarding coping mechanisms and conflict resolution skills.
- Encourage parent-child and sibling-sibling bonding.
Documentation
- Provide and maintain adequate client records and reports.
- Collect, compile and analyze statistics for A Child's View program.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in supervisory meetings with Director on a weekly basis.
- Attend staff meetings, conferences and trainings as directed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Maintain flexibility in schedule to meet client needs. Evenings required.
- Must have valid driver's license. NOTE: This job description is a broad outline of the responsibilities and duties of the A Child's View Case Manager that will be amended as needed to meet the program priorities of the YWCA EUC and their ensuing work requirements.
