Organization Background
The Arroyo Seco Saints, a certified 501(c)3 non-profit organization, attracts elite college players, coaches, and college students seeking to gain experience in the sports industry to the greater Los Angeles area for the months of June and July. A proud member of the California Collegiate League and entering its 21st season of operation, the Saints strive to provide the finest collegiate summer baseball experience in the nation. Graphic Design interns will be key players in advancing our mission. You will spend the summer gaining valuable experience in the sports industry, building your resume and career portfolio, and learning through mentoring, networking, and training.
Job Duties
- Conceptualize and execute creative graphic design concepts for digital communications, print media, apparel decoration, and web design for the Arroyo Seco Saints and the California Collegiate League.
- Support digital, social media and video teams with visual creative assets for the livestream broadcast.
- Design high-quality graphics for all marketing avenues and mediums, including social media, emails, digital marketing, team websites, and other platforms.
- Develop content for creative for partnership proposals, activations, and sponsorship fulfillment.
- Design pre-game, in-game and post-game graphics for online use
- Collaborate with social media managers to incorporate visual content into online marketing strategy.
- Work closely with the photography interns to share material for the prompt delivery of pre- and post-game graphics and for any other graphics as required throughout the season.
- Work with front office staff to create team apparel designs, merchandise, and promotional material.
- Interface with designers and content managers from the California Collegiate League to fulfill the graphics requirements of the league. This is includes, but is not limited to: CCL All Star Game, CCL Playoffs, CCL Golf Tournament, various fundraisers, website graphics support, etc.
- Create content as directed for annual reports, strategic plans, and requirements documentation.
- During the season of play (June-July), attend all home games (and road games as assigned), as part of the Creative Services Team.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Fellowship Qualifications
- Ability to create deliverables with the Adobe Creative Suite, with proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- An online, reviewable portfolio of past work as it is related to this position.
- Prior experience in sports-related graphic design.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a multimedia-driven creative environment.
- Knowledge of HTML and web design is preferred but not required.
- Highly creative, imaginative, and a self-starter.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Working knowledge of the college athletics sector. Knowledge of baseball is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of current social media trends.
Fellowship Requirements
- Pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate degree in a related major.
- Ability to create and edit graphics in-game, real time.
- Ability to be live, on-site during the season of play (June 2024 - July 2024)
- Knowledge of design, layout and composition principles.
- Computer for designing and editing.
- Upbeat and friendly attitude.
- Excellent organizational skills. Self-motivated and detail oriented.
- A team player with a get it done work ethic. Be deadline driven.
- Working knowledge of the college athletics sector. Knowledge of baseball is a plus.
Time Commitments
This Fellowship is a 12-month position, designed to run in multiple parts. The first part (from hire date to May) is designed to be remote, working together with full time staff on tasks required to prepare for the upcoming season. The next part is a hybrid schedule of on-site and remote (June to early August). The position requires the Graphic Designer to be present during the season of play and interact as part of the Creative Services Team. Following the conclusion of the season, the position will return to a remote position for the remainder of the term (August to 12th month), handling tasks associated with post-season wrap up and preparation for the next season.
