Description This announcement is for a full-time, permanent, Health Services Consultant 3 position.

Join the Office of Healthy and Safe Communities in the 988 Crisis Systems Section as a Health Services Consultant 3, reporting directly to the 988 Program Supervisor, and contribute to the successful rollout of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Recent legislation supports the implementation of the national 988 system as well as enhances and expands mental health crisis response and suicide prevention services in Washington State. State agencies must work collaboratively to support the successful implementation of services provided by this national three-digit number for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In this crucial role, you will make a direct impact on advancing mental health crisis response and suicide prevention services in Washington State.
Position Overview: As a 988 Implementation Specialist (HSC3), you will lead efforts for the Mental Health Crisis Call Diversion Initiative (MHCCDI). This initiative aims to support appropriate diversion of 911 calls that are better served by 988 crisis counselors. You will collaborate with the 988 Lifeline crisis centers, 911 Public Safety Answering Points, Health Care Authority, and other partners, and provide content knowledge support to implement 988 federal and state legislation according to public health and national crisis response best practices.
Key responsibilities include: - Collaborating with various agencies to enhance crisis response services.
- Planning and evaluating the MHCCDI pilot program.
- Ensuring the strategic direction of each pilot aligns with agency and community needs.
- Coordinating with the epidemiology team to collect and analyze data around the MHCCDI pilot program.
- Supporting the development of standard procedures for engagement between 988 Lifeline crisis centers and PSAPs.
- Developing and managing work plans and making critical decisions about adjustments.
- Representing the section in meetings and presenting findings and updates about MHCCDI efforts to leadership.
- Coordinating funding, communications, and long-term community engagement and tribal engagement strategies.
- Providing expertise to the 988 Crisis Systems section.
Work Location This Hybrid/Flexible position is based in Tumwater, WA. DOH supports a hybrid workplace; Employees will be supported to choose the location in which they do their best work. This position can support telework, in-office or a combination, and includes occasional in-person partner meetings.

Part-time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment.
Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.
As provided in , an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357-31-165.
Note: Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for
exempt employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave.
Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
Bereavement Leave Most employees whose family member or household member dies, are entitled to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
