Job Summary This role performs tasks and responsibilities such as PeopleSoft and Portal review, OneCard holder/reconciler, provides accounting support for the Department of Pediatrics administration staff, calculates unit cost information and monthly billings for reimbursement of expenditures, assists in preparing more complex financial records and operating reports, prepares less complex special reports, and analyzes accounting data for planning estimates and other similar items.
Experience and Education
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with two (2) years professional experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting or auditing; OR
- Associate’s degree and four (4) years professional experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting or auditing; OR
- High school diploma and six (6) years of experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting or auditing.
Primary Job Duties
- Review and approve of department OneCard transactions, assist card holder and reconciler to reconcile the transactions before reconciling due day, and avoid the card to be closed.
- Release the Dept. approver in the preliminary approval process but save effort to focus on the final approval.
- Assist Accounting supervisor to process various division expense exception requests. (3 different EER forms) Release the Accounting supervisor from the preliminary review process but save effort to focus on the final review.
- Assist Accounting supervisor to process various division event request forms (5 different event forms) Release the Accounting supervisor from the preliminary review process but save effort to focus on the final review.
- Compile and prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports as required. (Taxable payment report, Obits, FSCM reports).
- Provide guidance/assistant as subject matter expert to division admins and Accountant I positions.
- Prepare and conducts quarterly business policy refresh training.
- Submits service tickets to make corrections in ledgers and journals. (deposit and expenditure).
- Search and verify postings in ledgers and journals for accuracy and compliance with prescribed accounting procedures.
- Assists in development and implementation of new or revised departmental accounting and operational procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Job Duties
- Verifies postings in ledgers and journals for accuracy and compliance with prescribed accounting procedures.
- Verifies accuracy of accounting ledgers and resolves discrepancies.
- Compiles data and prepares spreadsheets related to various financial activities.
- Furnishes data for general ledger accounts for correctness of income and/or expenses and for maintenance of adequate balances; reconciles monthly and annual salary reports.
- Assists in development and implementation of new or revised accounting and operational procedures.
- May compile and prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports as required. May prepare and/or approve various on-line expenditures, journal vouchers, etc.
- May provide working supervision to Accounting Clerk and/or Accountant I positions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Work requires ability to exercise considerable judgment in interpretation of policy and application of accounting procedures and practices to work problems. Work requires knowledge of spreadsheets and word-processing software. Work requires ability to apply mathematical reasoning to analyze data and identify discrepancies in financial accounts. Work requires skill in using ten key by touch.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in general office area.
