Job description
Midland College in Midland, TX is looking for one math lab peer tutor to join our team. We are located on 3600 N. Garfield. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, and engaged.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and assist students in the use of mathematical related technology such as the calculators (TI-30, TI-35, TI-83, TI-84), mathematical software, and computerized tutorial programs through demonstrations
- Work effectively with math students of all levels to promote student success in mathematics
- Must be organized, reliable, and punctual
- Follow best practices for tutoring as instructed
- Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures
- Contribute to a safe educational and working environment
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to move around room to assist students for entire shift
- Use of manual dexterity
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the equivalent of a transfer-level math course or instructor recommendation
- Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in groups
- Ability to explain information and mathematical concepts through oral and written communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer Math, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering major
- Basic computer skills
