Join Lehigh University's Music Department where you will be responsible for live recording, audio editing and CD mastering (where necessary) of departmental events. We sponsor a wide range of large and small groups (choirs, orchestra, bands, jazz ensembles). In addition to educating students through the teaching component of this role you will record and edit concerts of various genres such as classical and jazz. The Audio Recording Engineer is a two year term position expected to begin in August of 2024 with the months of June and July off each year. Lehigh defines this position as a grade 9 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $44,650 - $54,340 which reflects a ten month schedule. The salary range is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Sign on bonus: $5,000 - $10,000

Responsibilities
1. Uses critical listening skills and aesthetic judgment to record, edit and mix musical performances, rehearsals and new composition readings of student works in conjunction with the appropriate music faculty
2. Teaches one 3-credit class per semester in music technology and supervises occasional independent study and capstone projects
3. Manage and instruct the student crew when both recording and sound reinforcement are required
4. Draws upon experience and knowledge to provide live sound reinforcement services and operate audio equipment found in a fully functional recording studio
5. Maintain and upgrade computers and software devoted to digital music writing and sequencing programs; purchase, install and maintain audio equipment

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; Technical degree in Music, Audio Technology, Recording or Production preferred
Recent graduates with strong music educational backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
One to three years of related work experience
Knowledge of music editing software
Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to teach and educate students
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
