Job description

The Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation (BRPF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for paralysis through funding the latest in medical research and to provide assistance to those that suffer from spinal cord injuries. Relying heavily on fundraising to sustain our mission, the BRPF is seeking a Director of Development to help lead our efforts. Established in 2001, the Foundation is ready to expand its philanthropic support with the help of a new Director of Development. This is a part-time position with flexible hours.

Position Overview: The position develops, implements, and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the organization including identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual leads, fostering strong donor and sponsor stewardship, seeking and managing grant funding. Additionally, this position plans and produces all events associated with the BRPF. The successful candidate will work closely with the President of the Foundation and the Board of Directors to develop and support fundraising strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s short- and long-term revenue goals.

• Research, identify, cultivate, and secure annual gifts, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation contributions.

• Work with designated committees in helping plan and execute foundation events including soliciting event sponsors and managing production, timelines, and budget.

• Manage current volunteers and recruit new ones.

• Oversee branding, image, and consistency of messaging in all organizational materials and platforms. Pursue media coverage (print, radio, and television) and speak with media outlets as needed.

• Collect, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate database of prospects, donors and funding received. Create funding targets for the Board of Directors and committees. Establish tracking tools and monitor monthly.

• Coordinate presentations on the foundation’s work to various community and corporate groups as needed.

• Attend all monthly board and event planning meetings.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in annual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special event planning. • Experience in planned giving and digital fundraising is a plus.

• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of fundraising software and donor databases.

• Strong leadership and management skills.

• Strategic thinker able to identify challenges and opportunities and develop creative solutions.
